Aaron Kemps sejrede på hjemmebanen

nullI nat blev 3. etape af den 56. udgave af Jayco Herald Sun Tour kørt i og omkring Mansfield med mål i Beechworth efter 139.5 km på jernhesten.

12 ryttere angreb med 20 kilometer til mål. De 12 ryttere arbejdede godt sammen, men det samme gjorde sprinterholdene. Derfor blevet det hele også samlet med blot 1000 meter til mål. I massespurten viste Aaron Kemps (Astana) igen, at han var den bedste, og han tog dermed sin anden etapesejr. Kemps vandt foran Stuart Shaw (Drapac Porsche) og Felix Odebrecht (Wiesenhof-Felt).

Astana havde Koen De Kort med fremme i 12-mandsudbruddet, men han blev hentet få hundredemeter fra målstregen, men hvad gør det, når man har en sprinter, der snupper sejren alligevel?

"Vi havde kun Koen (De Kort, holdkammerat hos Astana, red.) tilbage på de sidste hundredemetre, og han kørte perfekt, så vi ikke behøvede og arbejde i feltet. Hvis vi ikke havde hentet frontgruppen, så havde han helt sikkert også vundet, det skete ikke, men jeg gjorde mit arbejde og vandt massespurten,” forklarede Aaron Kemps efter etapen.

Samlet fører Matthew Wilson (Unibet.com) foran holdkammeraten Baden Cooke med 17 sekunder.
